Cycle Camp 2012

Our 4th season of Cycle Camp is just around the corner. Classes start January 7th.

Cycle Camp is 15 weeks of power based, progressive cycle training specifically designed for the competitive cyclist that wants to be road ready when the outdoor cycling season starts. It’s a fee based, registration required group exercise class. For each athlete we conduct an initial power assessment, do a mid-term test and then a final test, quantifying threshold watts, power to weight and power to cardio ratios. This provides each athlete with quantifiable evidence of their improvement over time.

Each week we offer 1 core class, 3 long ride classes and 3 short ride classes. Each athlete can pick and choose the classes to attend that best fits their schedule. This year we have 1 core coach and 7 cycling coaches. Our class schedule is:

Saturday, 8:00-10:15 a.m., Long Ride
Saturday, 10:30 -12:45 p.m., Long Ride
Sunday, 12:30-2:45 p.m., Long Ride
Monday, 6:00-7:00 p.m., Cycling Specific Core Strengthening
Tuesday, 5:45-7:00 a.m., Short Ride
Wednesday, 5:30-6:45 p.m., Short Ride
Thursday, 12:00-1:15 p.m., Short Ride

New this year is the Sunday 12:30 class which coincides with Kid’s Club which provides free day care for those athletes with “little cyclists”.

So far we have had two “demo classes” so athletes can get a feel for what happens in a Cycle Camp class prior to registration. Registration opens Monday, December 5 for Y members and December 12 for athletes from the community. Registration fee is $100 and $250, respectively.
