    Default Spin Ups?

    Hello everyone,

I am a newly certified Cycle Reebok instructor, but I just purchased a CD from a Spinning certified instructor. For one of the songs, it says to do "spin ups". That is not a technique we learned in Cycle Reebok, so I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what a "spin up" is?

    Thanks in advance,

    Sorry Mel,
That's not a Spinning term that I'm familiar with...anyone else?

    Here's from the Keiser manual:

    CONTROL DRILLS

    SPIN UPS

From seated riding, while maintaining a low-moderate resistance, the participant increases their cadence a small
percentage at a time. Example: Set a tempo and gradually increase leg speed 10% and hold the new cadence,
again increase 10% and hold the new cadence . . . Another Cue would be to increase 5-10 RPM’s at regular
intervals (every minute). Emphasis is on technique and skill acquisition. Good for beginners, work up to 5 minutes.
You may also ride decreases as a cool down or recovery.

I've attached the whole manual for reference. There seems to be some good drills in there.

    Default On a similar note:

Per the Heart Rate Monitor Workbook (Sally Edwards and Sally Reed)

Spin ups: Increase the cadence progressively by 5 to 10 rpm at regular intervlas. Keep the pedal stroke smooth and efficient.

Ahhhhh, cadence building, that's how the Spinning program refers to that particular concept, at least now.
